Spring is officially here, and with it comes the perfect opportunity to refresh your home from top to bottom. At Decluttered™, we know how overwhelming spring cleaning can feel, so we’ve put together the ultimate checklist to guide you through clearing clutter and organizing every space. Let’s turn your home into a haven of calm and order!
🌟 Your Spring Cleaning Checklist starts in the Entryway!
Clear out shoes, coats, and accessories that are no longer in use, have a missing half (hello gloves!), or have reached the end of its life.
Create designated storage zones for daily essentials like keys, bags, and mail.
If you receive a lot of packages, set up a place for these to go if they are not being opened and put away immediately.
🌟 Living Room
Declutter books, magazines, and decor items that feel cluttered or outdated.
Streamline your media center by organizing cords (we love using velcro for a cleaner look), remote controls, and electronics.
Put away any blankets that are no longer needed during the nicer weather.
🌟 Kitchen
Empty pantry and cabinets, discarding expired or unused items.
Categorize like-items together (baking supplies, snacks, pastas etc).
Clean and organize drawers, countertops, and fridge shelves for maximum efficiency.
Give your spices an upgrade by swapping out their containers to be uniform and label.
🌟 Bedroom
Go through one-by-one your clothing, donating items you no longer love or wear.
Hang as much as you can and fold as much as you are willing (decide if you prefer to hang or fold because this matters with maintenance!).
Reduce bedding extras by only keeping 1-2 sets on hand per bed.
🌟 Bathroom
Declutter old or unused products and toiletries. For medications, take bottles to your local Walgreens to recycle properly.
Maximize storage with clear bins so you can see what you have.
Simplify daily routines by keeping essentials easily accessible. We like to use a small 9" turntable on the counter and keep only what you need there.
🌟 Home Office
Clear your desk of unnecessary items and papers.
Create a filing system that suits your work style. For example, have an easy drop zone if your filing system is not right next to where you sit.
Digitize important documents to reduce paper clutter. If you have an iPhone, there is a neat trick in your Notes app where you can select a new message, click on the paperclip and select 'scan documents' and scan one or multiple pages. The key though is to not store these on your phone long-term as space will fill up quickly, so you'll want to make sure you store on your computer.
"We loved working with this team! Can't wait to have them back and organize more areas in our home."
🌟 Garage (we gave the above garage a nice makeover!)
Sort items into categories (tools, seasonal decor, sports gear, kids toys) and donate what’s not needed.
Utilize shelving, pegboards, or labeled bins to keep items accessible and organized.
Establish zones for different activities or hobbies.
